Accessible safari-stays
We offer three properties for safari-stays. All our lodges come with buggies included in the price to use within the reserve during your stay. Major’s Lodge is our only fully wheelchair accessible property with exclusive access to our wheelchair accessible buggy as well as a state of the art bird-hide. Accessibility for day visitors
Our wheelchair accessible trailer is available on each of our buggy tours and is towed by the guide vehicle. Our reception building has specific disabled parking areas with stabilised grid matting, a sloped entry ramp and a disabled toilet with adult sized changing table and assistance pull cord. FAQs
Is Watatunga dementia friendly?
We will do everything we can to make your visit a success. In 2021, our staff received dementia training from the Norfolk County Council and we try to implement as good practice across all our tours. If you are worried about a specific aspect of the tour or know that it would help you or a companion to include more sensory aspects, then please do feel free to get in touch prior to a tour or discuss it with your guide on the day.
Is Watatunga autism friendly?
Our team have a wealth of experience working with SEN students and we welcome placement students and schools of all abilities. Our guides have the ability to make the tour more interactive; we have a vast selection of horns, antlers, pelts (skins) and skulls to allow all audiences to feel engaged.
Do you offer a Carers’ discount?
For day visitors on guided tours, we offer a carer’s discount with valid carer’s ID card and an NHS discount, with valid NHS / Blue light card. Please contact the office via the contact form on the website to arrange this.
Do you offer a Service discount?

Am I able to bring my dog with me to Watatunga?
We love dogs at Watatunga! However, we cannot facilitate any dog on tour.
We have three kennel spaces available to hire at reception. We can only accept fully vaccinated dogs and the price per kennel is £10.00, and guide dogs are welcome to use our facilities for free. Each kennel is 2m long, 1m high and 1m wide and so each should fit 2 large and one small dog easily. We disinfect kennels between use and while we can provide water bowls, we prefer that you bring your own. Our reception building is approx 0.4 miles from the roadside entrance – it is not necessarily staffed all the time while you’re out on tour but each kennel is provided with a secure lock. Dogs at reception are left entirely at their owner’s risk. Kennels can be booked as an extra on any of our buggy or trailer tours. Any further queries, please fill in the contact form on our website.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in our accommodation due to the proximity of our animals in surrounding areas.
Are guide dogs allowed on tour?
We love dogs at Watatunga! However, we cannot facilitate any dog on tour, including guide dogs.
We offer free use of the kennels for guide dogs, however if you are not comfortable with this, we can make it work with enough notice and arrange for a staff member to work from reception to supervise.
Can children of all ages participate in the tour?
There is no lower age limit on our tours – you know your children best but please be aware that the tour is not interactive, we are not a petting zoo and very young children (under-4) may struggle to stay engaged. We have children’s iSpy cards available to keep children on the lookout and fully engaged.
What is the terrain like at Watatunga?
We continue to monitor our tracks throughout the year and carry out work on these where necessary. Whilst the terrain may not always be smooth, on our private & accommodation tours, our guides can tailor the tour to use specific tracks to make this more comfortable.
