Ways to experience Watatunga
To get up close and personal with the resident wildlife at Watatunga and become immersed in the natural beauty of the reserve, we have a range of guided tour options and one-of-a-kind experiences to choose from. The animals and birds roam free within the reserve, giving your tour the genuine excitement of a real safari and meaning no two visits are ever the same. Guests return again and again as the season change, for a unique experience each time.
Guided Tours
To meet the animals and explore the reserve, you can choose to book either our popular guided small-group buggy tours, our wheelchair accessible our trailer tours, or our private group tours, arranged to suit you and your party. Wheelchair accessible options are also available. Your tour guide will bring the reserve to life with informative and entertaining stories about the rare species that we have living at our reserve.
Plan ahead
Plan ahead for an exceptional experience at Watatunga! We encourage you to book early, as same-day tours are subject to availability and can sell out. With only a limited number of self-drive buggies available per tour, securing yours ensures you won’t miss out on exploring our beautiful reserve. Be mindful that during high season, tours may be booked up to two weeks in advance. Reserve your place now for an extraordinary wildlife adventure!
Photography Experiences
Budding photographers can book a photography tuition experience, exploring the reverse with our expert guide and wildlife photography specialist. Whilst more seasoned photographers and photography groups can book a photography experience, without a tutor, but with an expert guide, setting off in our open sided safari-trailer and discovering the reserve on foot where possible.
BBQ Experiences
For those who wish to dwell a little longer on the reserve, our cosy wooden BBQ Hut and adjoining open-sided Stretch Tent is available to book for self-catered private dining experiences, perhaps to enjoy after a private tour of the reserve. With stunning views across the lake and the reserve beyond, our BBQ experience is often booked for special occasions, birthday treats and anniversary celebrations, plus corporate meetings and events.
Corporate Experiences
Watatunga hosts corporate experiences for client meetings, colleague away days, staff incentives and team building experiences, with a difference. Corporate organisations are welcomed to the reserve for private buggy tours of the nature reserve and use of either the Sustainable Wooden Chalet, uniquely styled as a mini natural history museum for up to 12 people, or the Luxury Stretch Tent for up to 20. With catering options for lunches, and optional add-on experiences, like wreath making, bushcraft and foraging, we’ll create bespoke experiences tailored to your company’s requirements.
