Forest School re-opening – volunteers needed 2nd April

by | Mar 22, 2023 | Watatunga Blog

We’re so excited to be re-opening our Trees to meet you Forest school on Wednesday April 12th for a one off Easter special followed by a weekly slot from 9.00-12.15 each Wednesday thereafter in term time.  The site is looking a bit different following substantial tree surgery that was necessary to make the site safe after the winter storms.

We have a lot to do between now and April 12th to transform the woods back into the magical wonderland the children knew before.  If you fancy a bit of branch clearing or helping to build a den or two on Sunday 2nd April, please get in touch with Anna to make a plan.  Please note that while we love kids, we’re looking for adult (or over-12) help in this instance please.  You’d need waterproof boots with strong treads, some thick gloves and plenty of enthusiasm.  Hot drinks on us!

Our Forest School is run by Jackie Patnell who is a fully accredited Level 3 Forest school Practitioner.  We are so excited to welcome her back to the Watatunga site after a winter break.  Her sessions are for pre-school children – confident walkers to school age.  All children come accompanied by a supervising adult and we have loved meeting the amazing mums and dads who come each week.

We are considering running a second session for older home-schooled children on Wednesday afternoons – if this is of interest please email info@watatunga.co.uk with FOREST SCHOOL HOME SCHOOL as the subject of your email!

Sessions cost £6.00 per child (sibling discount available) if you sign up for a whole term block or £7.50 per child for drop-ins.  There is always a forest craft activity, tasty snack and plenty for the children to get involved with.
