Reeve’s Muntjac

(Muntiacus reevesi)

Originally found in China, these small deer were introduced into the UK during the 20th century and are now quite a common sight in gardens and along roads. They are also a browsing animal; however, they tend to eat new shoots, woodland flora (bluebells, herbs) and vegetables.

Although the Reeves Muntjac is of least concern, the Large-Antlered Mantjac (Muntiacus vuquangensis) found in Cambodia is critically endangered due to hunting, logging and habitat destruction.
